Composition

3 g ammonium bifluoride
4 ml HCl
100 ml Water

Procedure

3 g ammonium bifluoride 4 ml HCl 100 ml Water Condition: Immerse sample at 20 Celsius for a few seconds.
High quality polish required.
Comments and Warning: Weck's tint etch for Ti and alloys.
Colors alpha grains; secondary alpha, alpha prime, and intermetallic phases are colored or unaffected.
